What the situation was
The client needed a car auction platform where buyers can bid in real time, even when they are not sitting at the screen, and where the end of an auction cannot be exploited with last-second tricks. They also needed a way to sell immediately at a fixed price and to auction other goods.
What we did
We built an auction platform with real-time bidding. A buyer can set a maximum amount, and the system bids on their behalf only as much as needed (proxy bidding). If a bid is placed in the final minutes, the auction end is extended automatically (soft-close), so the highest offer wins, not the fastest click.
