02Requirements
What an invoice in Latvia must include
A short overview of what an invoice usually has to include. This is not legal advice and the tool does not replace an accountant: check the current requirements with the State Revenue Service (VID) or your accountant.
VAT-registered seller
- Invoice date and a unique number
- Name and address of the seller and the buyer
- Seller VAT number, and the buyer VAT number if the buyer is VAT-registered
- Description and quantity of goods or services
- Date of supply if it differs from the invoice date (can go in the notes)
- Price excluding VAT and any discounts
- VAT rate, VAT amount and the total
Not registered for VAT
- Document title, date and number
- Seller name, registration number and address
- Buyer name, and the registration number for a company
- Description, quantity, price and amount
- No VAT is charged; many sellers write "Not registered for VAT" to make it clear
A PDF invoice is not a structured e-invoice. If your transactions require e-invoices, check the current VID requirements.
